Those two rectangles are the contact points.

The next step is to make the contacts for the inside of the cap. I did this using a spring from a ball point pen. After cutting the end off of the spring I cut two pieces about 1/8 of an inch long. I then soldered my wires to the spring.

Using the rectangles as guides holes were drilled, just large enough to let the wire pass through.

I started my solder job with the wires half way trough the cap. That way, as soon as I was finished soldering, I could pull the spring into the top of the cap burying it in the plastic while still hot.

Next I will perform the mods on the upper part of the case. I will be installing a USB jack, two switches and the charging unit.

First I made two vertical cuts. (Also notice the hole in the side for the charger LED)
